Where Our Materials Come From — MOGSki
The pastoral grasslands of Inner Mongolia
Sourcing

Where every MOGSki piece begins.

The honest answer to a fair question: where do our materials come from, and how can we use them in good conscience?

The full story.

Every hide we use is a byproduct of Inner Mongolia's traditional pastoral food system.

The herders of the steppe have raised sheep, goats, and cattle for centuries. The meat feeds families and supplies the regional food industry. The hides, for thousands of years, were used for clothing, boots, and shelter, because nothing went to waste.

Today, in industrial supply chains, those same hides are often discarded or burned. We rescue them. We work with local meat processors and pharmaceutical suppliers, who source from the same animals, to collect what would otherwise be incinerated. Then we hand them to artisans who transform them into something extraordinary.

No animal is ever raised for MOGSki. Not a single one. The animals lived their lives as part of a centuries-old pastoral economy. We are the last step that gives their hides meaning.

Natural undyed hides

Natural, undyed, untreated. Exactly as the land made them.

What we guarantee.

  • i. No animal raised for fur.Every hide we use comes from animals that lived as part of Inner Mongolia's pastoral food economy. Not one is raised, trapped, or killed for MOGSki.
  • ii. Full traceability.Every hide is traceable to a regional food-system source. If you ever want to know where a specific piece came from, we will tell you.
  • iii. Nothing dyed, nothing treated.Every piece is left in its natural state, preserving the integrity of the material and the patterns nature gave it.
  • iv. No chemical bleach, no synthetic coating, no plastic lining. What you wear is what came from the land. That is the whole point.
  • v. Made to last decades.A MOGSki piece is not meant to be replaced. Cared for properly, it will outlive most things in your closet.
