The sheepskin, shearling and cowhide we use are byproducts of other industries.
The herders of the steppe have raised sheep, goats, and cattle for centuries. The meat feeds families and supplies the regional food industry. The hides, for thousands of years, were used for clothing, boots, and shelter, because nothing went to waste.
Today those hides are often discarded. We work with local processors to collect them, then hand them to artisans who transform them into something extraordinary.
No sheep, goat or cow is raised for MOGSki. These animals lived their lives as part of a centuries-old pastoral economy. We are the last step that gives their hides meaning.
Natural and undyed, exactly as the hide came.
What we guarantee.
- i. No sheep, goat or cow raised for MOGSki.The sheepskin, shearling and cowhide we use come from animals raised as part of Inner Mongolia's pastoral food economy.
- ii. Natural colour, left as it came.The hides and furs we use are undyed. The colour and pattern on each piece are the ones the material already had.
- iii. Natural materials, honestly described.The hide and wool are natural. The finished piece also contains a rubber outsole, adhesives, thread and hardware — we do not describe the whole product as natural.
- iv. Made to be kept.A MOGSki piece is not meant to be replaced. Cared for properly, it is made to stay with you.
Our fur pieces — mink, fox and raccoon dog — come from a different supply chain. We are documenting it, and until that work is complete we make no sourcing claim about these materials.
We hide nothing. Because there is nothing to hide.
